Leaning into the learning curve

As far as learning curves go, the year 2020 would surely have SpaceX look into the Y-axis acceleration rate as people jumped into the world of virtual meetings, reassessed their businesses, and took advantage of the opportunity to upskill.

Expanding our knowledge was certainly something we threw ourselves into, but we wanted to ensure that it was relevant, true to what we do, and ultimately, would instill confidence in our clients and their customers

With that in mind, we looked into what training we could complete regarding the pandemic and started at the top: the World Health Organisation. They provided training and guidelines that could be used as a starting point in bringing events back safely for our clients, as well as being a go-to for the latest pandemic information.

Following that, we took advantage of the generous free training the National Compliance and Risk Qualifications (NCRQ) offered. This allowed us to update our skills in managing our events safely, in a general capacity, and with lessened health risks.

And most recently, we felt it vital we learned from one of the best Event Safety consultants around and absorbed ourselves in the COVID-19 Compliance Officer for Events course. This gave detailed insight into new considerations regarding events and provided solid knowledge of delivering them safely as they slowly come back. Vital learnings as we come to the understanding that the pandemic is something we will have to incorporate into event plans, vaccine or not.

The course was informative, enlightening, and boosted our knowledge in areas such as:

  • Providing the right mindset in creating competency to all production staff within an event environment.

  • What is expected within a COVID-19 Compliance Officer role for event production.

  • Analysis of the current best practice and advice used to enable events and their productions to work during the COVID crisis.

  • Information about COVID risk management protocols and procedures, including how risks should be managed by event productions.

  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety regulations that apply to the management of COVID risks.

All these are vital in creating an environment of assurance for our clients' next event, however, the training does not and will not stop there. Our constant revaluation of the guidelines regarding safer events is ongoing so that we’re ready to go when you give us the call.
